I looked at your pics and I am wondering about this one - http://pics.livejournal.com/hsifeng/pic/0000378k/g5
Is that a cloche for baking and it's period? I need to know more!

Barbara Flynn has been doing reenactment pottery for the 16th C for a *long* time, and if she can't do it then I am pressed to provide a resource that could.
On the other hand, if you manage to talk her into trying again I would love one too!

She made the pipkin too.
I am learning how to bake with it. *wry grin*
I am curious on the surface design and the side handle and if that one is based on an extant piece. I don't really have much documentation on these for the 16thC (or any other time) so that got me excited.

I believe that the one Barbara made would be based on an extant piece: She spends many winters in London going to medieval/Tudor pottery lectures offered at the museums there and rarely makes something she can't demonstrate from a photo from a piece in one of their exhibits.
Seriously though, please send the contact information for your friend. I would be interested in knowing the dimensions of your bell so I can see if the issue might be that it is smaller than the one that Barbara was trying to make....
