My friend T has asked that I host a 45 minute workshop for her at the Romance Writers of America, Annual Guild meeting in SF on July 30th. Now T is a brilliant garb researcher with a far greater grasp of the periods in question (medieval and renaissance) than I have. I love it! Makes me want to ditch the Costume College to go to the RWA conference. hehe. I also love the idea of the static display. I'm a hands-on learner and people will definitely remember that much better than a purely verbal talk -- besides I would expect that folks will want to pick things up because that knowledge adds to the description, knowing how unwieldy or surprisingly light various pieces might have been. That sort of thing. Anything you're concerned might break... hrm. Depends entirely on whether or not you encourage a hands-on versus a look-but-don't-touch approach to the display. Looking forward to Fort Mac. :-)
