what would you do...

if you were either in my situation or my student's?

Student missed the midterm last week because he was sick. Called me 1 hour before said midterm to tell me this. I told him to get a doctors note and then I'd let him make it up. Student did all this. I have written a make-up exam (not much, just some essay questions). Student is 50 minutes late for makeup test. I have a feeling he is blowing me off. Now, it is difficult to find my office, but I know he has my phone number so that's not my problem.

Would you skip out on a makeup exam that the teacher created just for you? I would be mortified if I did somehting like that and would never show my face in class again. (wonder if he'll show tonight?)

I don't know that I will take any kind of excuse from him for this. Unless he's bleeding out his eyeballs. But even then, I think I would need to see it (and then I'd vomit profusely, but at least I'd know he wasn't lying).

And now, to wax poetic for a second. Why the sam hell do I get stuck with all of these head cases? I think this makes student #452 in the past 2 semesters who has tried to pull something like this over on me. BAH! (shaking fist in air!)

You know, I'm not going to think about it. Tonight is the final farewell between Erika and myself (sniff, sniff) and then tomorrow I'm leaving to enjoy a humid, but fun, weekend in Houston. Students be damned.
