Prologue
Jared sat with the phone to his ear, listening to Sandy on the other end. Tears were forming in his eyes as his love informed of their impending split.
“Sandy, please. If this is really what you want-“
“It is Jare. This is what I want.”
“Okay, then. Then I-“His closed up on him as he spoke. “I guess we’re done.”
After a few more moments of discussing the break up, Jared hung up the phone and sighed. He glanced at his watch, and decided it was time to head back onto set. He locked up his trailer, and started walking back.
Today was the final scene of Season 3, and it was gonna be an emotional roller coaster for all of the crew and cast. Dean is gonna get torn to shreds by the invisible hellhounds, and Sam is going to use his dormant powers, on a Lilith possessed Ruby.
Jared, lost in his own thoughts, nearly ran into Jensen. Jensen looked at him, clearly concerned.
“You ok, Jare?”
“Yeah, I’m good.” Jared forced a fake smile, and Jensen could see right through. Jensen wrapped his arm around Jared, and they walked back to set laughing and goofing off.
15 minutes into filming
Filming is taking a small break, as the crew resets the filming area. Jared checks his phone, and notices he has a text message.
Hey Jare, It’s Chad. We’re done filming here and I am on a plane to come see you. See you tonight. The bar. You know the one. I’ll be in Vancouver about 9ish so I’ll be at the bar about 9:30. See ya.
Jared chuckled as he sent a message back, and Jensen smiled cause he had been talking about something supposedly funny.
“So you coming to the celebration party tonight, Jare?” Jensen asked Jared with a straight stern look.
“Act-actually I think I’m gonna pass tonight. I got plans elsewhere.” Jared could see the look of disappointment in Jen’s eyes and smiled sadly. “What ya gonna do with your summer, Jen?”
“Oh, I got one movie gig this time around and then, a small vacation to see my parents, and then I have another part time job I’ll be working, acting gig on the side. You?”
“I’m filming a remake of Friday the 13th, and then I’ll probably go visit family too, and then I’ll be free after that.”
The director called everyone back onto set, and the makeup designers touched Jared and Jensen one last time before they started the scene back up. The day couldn’t go by any slower for Jared, but it did finally come to an end, and he made his way to his car. He drove to his apartment and showered, getting the dirt and grime of Sam Winchester out of his skin.
At 9:31, he walked into the bar, and ordered up his and Chad’s favorite drinks. He sipped his drink, patiently waiting for Chad to arrive. At 9:46, Chad arrived, in a blue button down shirt, and blue jeans, along with flip flops and sunglasses. He patted Jared on the back, and sat down next to him.
“Hey Jare. How’s it been, man? Miss me much?”
Jared took a drink of his beer, nodding to Chad. “Yah man. I did. How’s North Carolina treating you?”
Chad smirked. “I’m lovin it. The writers can’t decide who they want with Lucas. He’s got a different girl every other day. It’s awesome!”
Jared chuckled and shook his head and took another drink of his beer, “Kripke thinks it’s time to get both Sam and Dean love interests. Guess that means Dean’s coming back from hell. Th---“
“That’s not why I’m here, Jare. Sophia heard from Sandy that you two broke it off. What happened, Jay?”
Jared stuttered for a moment. He’d been doing so well not thinking about her again. “I---- things just weren’t working out Chad. We didn’t get to see each other, and she wanted to get married later rather then now. We were fighting more than anything else. I-I’ll be fine, Chad.”
Chad listened with a friendly ear, and let the information settle for a moment before smiling a smirk at Jared. “I have an idea on how to cheer you up. Here take this.” Chad hands Jared a piece of paper with an address. “It’s downtown. A place called the Dragon’s Palace. I think you will like it.”
“I’m not-“
“Don’t protest until you’ve gone there. I’ve made you a reservation for 7pm tomorrow, my treat.”
Jared started protesting again until his phone started singing. He had a new text message from Jensen.
Hey Jay, bring your friend. Party’s startin. Downtown. Usual place.
Jared smirked, deciding to change the topic. “Hey Chad, want to go to the celebration party with me? It’s gonna be fun.” Chad smiled. “Nah, I came to check on you. I’m gonna go crash at my hotel now. Later Man.”
With that, Chad threw twenty on the counter, and left smirking.
Jared closed out his tab, and made his way to his car, slipping inside and heading for the usual club. 20 minutes later, Jared pulled into a nearby parking space, and headed into the club. The lights were flashing all over the dance floor, filled with people dancing. Jared dashed up the stairs to the VIP room, and found Jensen talking to one of the crew girls.
“Yah, I’ll bring you back something. Promise.”
Jared shoved his hands in his pockets and made his way over to Jensen.
Jensen then looked up noticing Jared standing there. “Hey Jare, Thought you’d never show.” He glanced around. “Where’s your friend?”
“Uh, Chad? Yah he’s back at his hotel crashing from the Jetlag and all.” The bartender approached asking about refills and what Jared wanted to drink. “A glass of water, thanks.” Jared smiled at the bartender.
Suddenly Jensen was dragging Jared off to the side by his arm. They made it to a quiet corner, and turned Jared to face him, catching his attention.
“What’s wrong, Jared? Don’t---say it’s nothing. Because today---today you just threw your lines out with no emotion. You barely stayed in character.”
Jared knew Jensen would let up about it so he sighed deeply, rubbed his hand through his hair, and looked at Jensen. “Sandy and I broke off the wedding, and we’re no longer together.”
“Oh” Jensen frowned at the news watching Jared’s reactions. “I’m sorry to hear that, Jared.”
