I'm looking at spending a small fortune on tires.
When I was washing the truck tires, I noticed a small nick in the side-wall of one of the tires, so I took the truck to my favorite tire shop and said ????
Their tech explained that the nick was only in the surface and was not a safety issue. But then he said "You know these tires were make in 2006, right?"
I said "EH", it's a 2008 and was produced in Dec of 2007.
Well, the tires were made in Nov of 2006.
So, sometime in the next few months I will have to spend around $1500 on 7 (the spare is that old too) new truck tires.
You see regular tires (passenger, truck, etc) only last about 7 years. So 8-1/2 years is starting to push things, a lot.
Well, after that I wondered, how old are the wagon tires, I don't recall when I put the "new" tires on it. Well, they were made in Oct of 2006. So I need 4 tires for the wagon, at a cost of around $500
Today I was reading a post that claimed that ST (Special Trailer) tires are only designed for a life of 3 to 5 years. So I checked and multiple sources said the same thing.
The tires on the trailer are 4-1/2 years old.
"Fortunately" I had to buy a new tire in Alberta last month (tires cost 50% more in Canada). So I only need 4 new tires for the trailer. At a cost of about $600.
Total cost is going to be around $2900.
Sigh, I should have bought stock in a tire service company.
