one of the classes i'm taking this term is a library sciences course on how to use archival material for research. it's obvious benefits aside, the course has one amazing drawback:
the instructors (7 students: 2 instructors. nice ratio) insist upon treating us like we're in high school. you all remember doing term papers in high school? how you had all these steps you had to complete, one after the other, and graded on each step. come up with a topic. make not cards. fill out note cards. write an outline. write a rough draft. write a second draft. write a final draft.
uh... hi. yeah. we're in college now? i don't need, or want, you to hold my hand while i write my paper. cause here's the thing: i have other papers due in other classes. and since they're all due before the paper in this class, they have a higher priority. at least, until they're all done. so, yea: i'm 'falling behind' on this paper. bite me.
