lights!
today i had another driving session in the bus. or rather, (snooty voice) motor coach. while i was out it started raining. hard.
most of the time, driving in the rain isn't a huge deal. sure, the roads are a bit slippery. so it's time to drive at a lower speed and with more distance between me and the next guy. but for whatever reason, in my car, my mirrors tend to stay pretty clean.
not so in the coach with its giant flat and convex mirrors. those were shortly covered in water droplets, as were my side windows. the idea of actually spotting details in the mirrors was laughable at best. fortunately, most of the people on the road with me at that time had their headlights on. i might not have seen them, otherwise.
so let that be a warning to you all: drive with your headlights on! those giant mirrors that trucks and busses have may eliminate most of the blind spots, but it can be hard to distinguish things. headlights make it easier.
