December 31, 2013... Tuesday

It's New Year's Eve... at least for a lot of people on this side of the Earth. Me? It's simply "Tuesday" today.

I really don't want to exert the effort to prepare a celebration for just one person. That's a lot more pathetic than not preparing at all. Celebration or none, I just wish someone was here.

After what I saw at my father's and brother's households, I gave up on the idea of celebrate anything with them at this time of the year. I feel like a stranger with them. Worse than that, I don't really feel any "holiday spirit" from them. Or maybe... I'm the one who doesn't have it.

"Fruit Macaroni Salad" sounds like the best thing that's edible right now. You wouldn't have any idea how much I miss preparing food during the holidays. Barbecue, spaghetti, fruit salad, holiday ham, and anything my family wanted to eat. Rushing to the market, grabbing the last can of milk and cream, waiting forever at the cashier, and walking along streets that's full of people setting off fireworks.

Guess there's no hiding the fact that I miss having a real "holiday". I've been telling myself that it's all gonna be over, but there's no escaping the holidays blues. Even if I opted to not to go to work tomorrow, there's simply no room for me in any home than my room.

Those holidays I spent at my ex girlfriend's family's house in Bulacan seem so long ago, now that I try to recall all the lights, food, and people in their home.

There's my ex best friend's house, too. That bastard and I have spent quite a lot of time together during the holidays that I was there on Christmas AND New Year. They didn't have a lot of food and whatnot, but it felt like home.

My father probably tried to do something for Christmas just for me. Eating two bowls of their spaghetti did provide some comfort. He probably felt bad that I really just wanted a normal Christmas with them, but their religion says it should never happen again.

Sometimes, I wonder if there's a place somewhere on this planet that celebrates on December 25th, but not for Christmas. I don't even understand why people are so fixated on that holiday, you don't even have to call it "Christmas" to celebrate. It's just the time of the year where people get together, no need to complicate such a simple idea.

Less than three hours left. I'll just eat, play games, and sleep... but deep in my heart, I'm screaming for someone to invite me to their home. Well, I'm not that significant for a lot of people, so there's nothing left to do but suck it up.
