after Christmas rush at the library

Jan 15, 2012 00:55

I gave four forty-minute tutoring sessions at the library today on how to download borrowed ebooks to a Kindle Touch, a Kindle Fire, a Kobo ereader, a Nook, and an Ipad2! Not all machines in each, but one or two machines depending on what the patron(s) owned. Woo-Hoo! (The most difficult session was the one in which they had a Kindle Fire and a Kindle: 1. They did not have an Amazon account yet, having bought the Fire in a brick & mortar store, and 2. The Kindle had its language chosen as German, and I had to guess my way through the settings menu to change the language to English. Mission accomplished, but I had to just assume that something-sprach was where the choose language menu was.)
I expect the need for ereader downloading instructions will wane quite a bit by March after many if not most people have gotten comfortable with how their machine works with library ebooks and library eaudio books.
