RSS recommendations?

I know it's possible to create feeds here on LJ, but other than that, I know um NOTHING about the various ways to subscribe to/read RSS feeds. ETA: By which I mean what kind of feed aggregator are y'all using and happy with?

I'd prefer something I can run in Firefox that ISN'T Google-based. Suggestions?
