Valuing art and crafts

Two posts, which I'm not excerpting from because they are worth reading in their entirety, and also I am feeling lazy about it:

Class and handcrafts, with lots and lots of detail in the comments about the real actual cost of crafts often looked at (by people who don't do them) as trivial and just not worth much. Most of the discussion is on traditional women's crafts (knitting, sewing, other fiber arts).

The problem that art is often devalued, too. And while you're there, you should check out the author's art, which is really gorgeous and stunning and and yeah. Or, you know, don't read that post, just go look at the art.
