So far, I like the show, but it's giving me cause to realize that my reactions to certain elements may be a little... atypical.
SAM. "When I was nine, I told Dad that I was afraid of the monster under my bed. He gave me a forty-five!"
HINES. “That’s terrible! …a .45 has way too much kick for a nine-year-old.”

Perhaps I am desensitized from years of watching superheroes endanger their wards in wildly bizarre ways, but I think Sam doesn't know how good he had it.
I mean, he could've been raised by Batman. Or Oliver Queen.

a .45 has way too much kick for a nine-year-old.
And is probably effective for some things, but not so great against imaginary under-the-bed-monsters. ;)
