the rain returns
after a week of (mostly) rain-free weather, the liquid precipitation returned with a vengeance late yesterday. The sky today has been filled with angry grey clouds, and the trees whip back and forth, shaken by the wind. A couple of days this past week it was so warm that I had to take an end-of-day shower to cool off, and we were so desperate that we turned on the bedroom AC. Today was the opposite: I'm back to long pajamas and we gave in and closed the windows.
The drop in temperature is not a complaint, mind you. I'll take 60 over 80 any day. I'd rather not have the rain, but if they're a package deal, I'm okay with that. I have enough water-repellant clothing to get by; I proved that fact three weeks ago
Aggravation of the day: I went to work this morning, briefly, to pick up something that I had forgotten to bring home every day this week (me? distracted? no....). I didn't want to get my sneakers wet, so I put on my hiking boots, only to find that there's a tear in the lining. I've only had the boots about three months and haven't worn them that much! I will have to take them back to REI and see if they will repair (or replace) them.
