Brilliant Event: One Year Later Part 1

Jun 02, 2020 00:54

Part 1 of the One Year Later Brilliant Event starts Tuesday, 02 June at 11am PST and runs through 09 June. Again, things have been adjusted to (for the most part) allow for playing from home. There is a Portkey Portmanteau unlocking requirement in Task 3, but with Adventure Sync, that should be doable from home.

So without further ado, here's your sneak peek to help you prepare for the tasks. (As always, if this is too spoilery for you, just give it a pass.)

Task 1 requires us to brew a TFTD, set it up in advance to speed things up. You'll also need a little bit of energy as we need to return at least 12 Foundables here. Quaffing the TFTD should help you meet the other requirements. Task 2: has us quaffing a Baruffio's, which should help with the XP task. If you aren't mobile, you'll probably need another TFTD to meet the high threat Foundables ask.

For Task 3 we'll need to brew four potions. As always, we can get a jump on this by queuing them in advance and not collecting until we reach this stage of the event. Remember that unless you are using the Rental Cauldron, you'll only be able to apply the Master Notes on the first potion, so do the maths and queue accordingly (the potion with the longest brew time should go first). Here as mentioned we need to unlock a Portanteau and return at least ten Foundables. Task 4 centres on the Fortresses. Lower level Fortresses combined with a Baruffio's are the best way to grind WXP for this assignment in the shortest amount of time.

If you are having difficulty getting energy, start saving up now. (Or be prepared to pay for it.)
If you don't have spawns occurring where you are, you'll need more TFTD.
If you're conserving energy, try to put off returning the Brilliant Foundables until the Bonus Tasks, and brew as many Exstimulos of varying strengths as you can to make your energy go further.

Once you pick up your freebies, you'll need ingredients for brewing at least four potions to complete the tasks. If you include the Bonus Assignments, you'll need a total of four Baruffio's. Brew accordingly.

Rewards include 15 green Restricted Section Books, 3 red Spell Books, 2 silver keys, 50 gold, a Dark Detector, 40 energy, some potions and ingredients.

Here is where you can find the Brilliant Foundables on the Event Registry page:

Note that thanks to the Knight Bus, we're back to trying to get the Ministry of Magic Landmark Fragment in a Fortress Battle. But we're required to do a bunch of those for Task 4 anyway.

Brilliant Portkeys for this event have once again been reduced to 1.5km! As a reminder, Part 1 Portkeys will give you part 1 rewards anytime you open them. As in the past, you don't have to unlock them now, as long as they are in your inventory, you can buy yourself some time to unlock them and get the fragments for your registries. However, it seems we'll be able to get the Portkey Fragments from the Bonus Tasks and won't have to open more than the single one required for Task 3. Which you choose will probably depend on how sure you are you'll finish the bonus assignments.

The following spawns have been boosted to help you complete the tasks, and maybe fill in those registries:

Once again, there's a Bonus Assignment after the main tasks are completed. Make sure to look for these in-game. The 'highest unlocked chamber' is going to hurt, but at least with the Knight Bus, it isn't an impossible ask for so many of us.

Rewards include 8 red Spell Books (!!), 5 Brilliant Opened Portkey Portmanteau Foundables (!!), and two vault extensions (!!!!) (30 ingredients and five seeds), 30 Energy, 2000 XP and 100 Event XP.

As usual, there will be freebies and bundles.

Here's hoping this helps you get ready for the event. And if you do nothing else, don’t forget to pick up your free TFTD ingredients and 50 Spell Energy.

Stay safe out there. ❤️
