Easy things to do to optimise your game...

Start the game daily. You don't have to play, just start it. There's basically a bonus just for breathing. 😊

By and large, speed matters more than accuracy in casting your spells. But you can get some practice in with the gestures here. (Go on, it's worth giving it a try once or twice just to get a feeling for how far off the cast can be. ( Read more... )

'Professor' might not have been a great career choice (says the Professor... lol). Uh oh, now you tell me. I chose professor too.

Wow, you are way ahead of me. I'm still bumbling around most of the time and don't really know what I'm doing. I have become much better and faster at the wand movements. And although I've collected so many seeds and water my storage for that is full, I had no idea what I was supposed to do with them. (Can you tell I really didn't do and lot of research? And I really never played pokemon go or any of the RP games.)

I think most of us went for Professor. I'm betting toblass has more clue, because she's an auror. For my part, I looked at the description and it just didn't seem to be 'me', and as there didn't seem to be many drawbacks or advantages one way or another, I figured, hey, Professor. I need to formulate that into a post tomorrow, but it apparently wasn't the 'six of one, half dozen of another' decision I took it for ( ... )

I only chose Auror because I tried the Magizoologist first and decided I want to be more BadAssed at dueling.

Meh.

Honestly I'm a bit frustrated with the game. I apparently live in a bit of a DeadZone, so unless I get out and go to a mall or some more densely public area, there's not much to do here and I'm just a defenseless Squib. There is an Inn just down the street from me, but its a church that is gated. In order to get to the church, one has to walk past the gate...but that's trespassing. So that Inn is out. (Get it? Inn is out...har har ( ... )

I go park at a corner where there's 3 inns together and stay for about 15 minutes to refuel.

You can always change professions at any time.

Go to fortresses with friends. You must be in the same chamber and have the same TYPE of runestone but it doesn't have to be the same level. You get a friendship bonus if you're friends with the person in game.

Don't leave battles with things you already have. 1, the experience is needed. 2, sometimes you win fragments of other things. 3- once you complete a collection, you can upgrade it and start collecting them for more rewards.

Yeah, and there's the rub for me, because it's looking like I'm *never* going to have RL friends to do that with. I have precisely *one* acquaintance who likes the Potterverse (more than I do, even. She's done tours in England and everything... I *love* the stories.), but she just laughed when I suggested we give the game a try. I saw one lady only a street away from home the other day with a Hogwarts T-shirt on, and I couldn't even work up the courage to just ask if she was playing. (We don't tend to speak to strangers often here. It's a bit of a cultural handicap... I'm working on it. (But hey! I spoke to a couple of strangers in the subway the other day. (But that's only because they had massive issues and the line wasn't running at all. We were trying to 'crowd source' the solution in the absence of signage. Baby steps.)))

Do you think you could put together a short post with a few tips for how to play with other people? If not, no worries, I'll try to wrap my head around it and add it above.

Well the only reason I figured it out was con, lol. Mel and I played and experimented. And made a random friend while fortressing. Yesterday I swear the guy parked in a car when I parked to fortress was playing since you can tell when someone else is battling, sort of.

I'll write up something this evening, no problem. I learned a lot while at con.

And I added the other stuff to the post already. (Just not the group effort bit, cause... clueless. lol)
