Dear Yuletide Writer 2013
As a writer, I appreciate having a Yuletide likes/dislikes post for my recipient, so I thought I'd post one of my own in case it helps.
But, keep in mind that these are for guidance purposes only. Most of my likes are not shared by a lot of writers. I certainly don’t expect someone to go outside their comfort zone just because it’s something I would enjoy reading. And even though I may dislike something in general, I always keep an open mind. Well-written fluff or crack will not go unappreciated.
Likes: I really like slash/p0rn (explicit or implied) and dark themes, hate-sex, rough-sex, sex-up-against-the-wall, non-con/dub-con, handcuffs/bound-hands, blindfolds, hair pulling and just about any of the different 'plays' (breath, knife, blood, etc.).
Dislikes: silly fluff or crack, sappy romance, any of the characters behaving out of character (without a good reason for it), het sex and explicit mention of girly parts (although I can’t see that happening in any of these fandoms with these characters).
I’ve added a few more details to my original ‘optional’ section of my request, so even though the below looks like it’s just repeating, it’s really not.
Request 1: The Administration - Manna Francis
Characters: Val Toreth, Keir Warrick
Request Detail: Anything, explicit or not - if you offered these two then you know what they're like together. I don't care what you come up with as long as they stay in character. There can never be enough Administration fic!
Edit: 131016 - this was in my original request but at the last minute I changed the characters I asked for. I liked this prompt though, so am leaving it here. If Carnac isn't a character you want to write, just ignore this completely.
Characters: Warrick, Carnac
Request Detail: I love slash, and since it's part of canon, I can't imagine someone offering to write in this fandom who won't write slash. It certainly doesn't have to be explicit. They had a relationship years ago - I’d be interested in a fic exploring what they might have been like together back then. Any present day one-off between them would be great too. Carnac is such a complex character - if you’ve offered to write him then you must know what I mean.
Request 2: The Rifter - Ginn Hale
Characters: Kyle/Kahlil, John Toffler
Request Detail: Most of the action in the Rifter takes place in Basawar. I'd love a story between Kyle and John during their early relationship in/on Earth, or maybe an AU where John remains on Earth and Kyle is sent the message to kill him. What would Kyle end up doing? Could he go through with it, especially if he and John are in a relationship? Or what about John spotting Kyle in the Steamworks bathhouse? What if Kyle hadn’t just ‘disappeared’?
Request 3: Shadow of the Templar - M. Chandler
Characters: Bran Lindsey, Jeremy Archer
Request Detail: Anything with these two would be great, especially if you've read Cuckoo's Egg. It can be from their time living together or during the 'missing' three years after Cuckoo's Egg ends. Slash is fun, and since they're really not related, it couldn't be considered 'incest'. These two are pefect for some dark, hate-sex - Bran has never dealt well with his attraction to Jeremy, and Jeremy seems to have a soft-spot for Bran.
Request 4: Alex Rider - Anthony Horowitz
Characters: Yassen Gregorovich, Vladimir Sharkovsky, Ivan Sharkovsky
Request Detail: I hope the new book, Russian Roulette, gave some new life to the Alex Rider fandom. I’ve always loved Yassen as a character, and RR only made him more intriguing. I think there’s so much to explore in the new canon. Horowitz had to keep it clean for the general public, but there's great potential for some really dark!fic about his time with the Sharkovskys.
And if none of my prompts inspire you, no worries. Just have fun and don’t stress. I will love any story you come up with. Thank you so much for taking the time to read up on what I like.
