The issue with the landlady is worked out. I wrote a nice email,and she wrote a nice one back. It was the contractor who was being pushy, by stopping by unannounced. Unfortunately the landlady doesn't communicate super clearly, so I mistook it for a demand when it wasn't. Sadly, it ruined part of my vacation in SF. : (
