Oh! You'll know Jacob's a Parseltongue by the way. It's pretty common knowledge.badger_dreyfussSeptember 18 2007, 10:15:51 UTC
Jacob grinned as Maggie agreed to go. "Awesome, that's- that's great. I'll just go sort it out with my mum- I'll be back in a minute-"
Jacob hustled over to where his mum was paying. Before he could open his mouth, she started speaking in a low voice. "Here's 10 Galleons, that should cover everything you need. Don't spend too much extra showing your young lady a good time, and give me the change later. Just use the public fireplace to get home and don't forget to pick up your potion ingredients- I don't want a repeat of last year, okay?"
Last year, Jacob had managed to score the first points change for Hufflepuff- and in a downwards direction- by forgetting to restock his potion ingredients for his first class. What had made it even worse was that it was his head of house who'd had to do it, and he really liked potions.
"No worries mum, I'll- wait, what?"
"Your potion ingredients, Jacob. Now you-"
"No, I mean about Maggie; she's not a young lady - well, she is a young lacy, just not my young lady, and I w-"
Mrs. Dreyfuss kissed Jacob on the cheek. "Have a nice day, dear." She said, a smile playing around the corners of her lips. Jacob shook his head at her and headed back over to Maggie.
"Mum says it's fine. Oh, and you weren't losing your hearing- Socrates was just asking whether it was okay if he went back to sleep, so I said it was fine. So, can we get potion ingredients first? Mum'll kill me if I forget them again."
"Um.. o-" Before Maggie had time to finish, Jacob was off. She managed to look busy by sorting thorugh robes she knew she wouldn't buy. When a friendly witch came to try and help her she just shook her head and explained that she didn't need any.
Maggie watched Jacob's mom steamroll him with information. She smiled to herself as she watched Jacob blubber and stumble over something before regaining his composure. She saw, out of the corner of her eye, Jacob's mom kiss him on the cheek before he bounded back over to Jacob's side. "'Bye Mrs. Dreyfuss.
"Awesome, I could use some company. Oh, how is Socrates? I won't make you get him out becuase he is probably sleeping" and Maggie was still slightly afraid of him. "I need to fill up my potions too. Ah, last year we lost." she threw him a playful glare. "Yes, you must go get potion suplies."
