7 weeks: 3 lessons
Lesson 1: Forgive
Randy held no ill-will toward me, nor mankind. In spite of his abused past, in spite of my loud Asian voice when he peed on the carpet, in spite of everything, he never once intentionally laid a hand on me. He understood that love often meant having to forgive, over and over again.
Lesson 2: Live
As a sub-set of Lesson 1, Randy clearly lived in the moment. No dwelling on the past no matter how much it shaped his present. No worrying about the future because tomorrow may never come. Live for the here and the now. He played till he was exhausted and then some more. He ate only enough for the moment. Wow.
Lesson 3: Love
Most importantly, Ran taught me what it meant to be human(e). And often, it just simply means you need to love more. Love unconditionally. Love even when loving is difficult.
3 simple lessons in 7 weeks. And it took a 7kg dog to teach me all that.
