An idea bandying about...
So, we're basically half a year into Devil's Game in the uploads now, a year and half into iton my writing schedule (OH, yeah, I'm badass). So now that it's on a good track, and I've got enough pooled up to last me well till Christmas with my updates (w00t), my brain's decided to bandy about some other fan fic ideas.
I've been reading a lot of Wolverine/Rogue (aka Logan/Marie) for the X-Men movieverse and recently read a very good Harry Potter/X-men X-over which I REEEEALLY hope I can find again so I can recc it. It was loosely a friendship fic between Scott (Cyclops) and Hermione. Anyways, I was thinking... and thinking... and thought some more... what if the "mutation" is actually a form of magic? Maybe there have been "mutants" around for centuries, but because we call them "Squibs"... get my drift? Maybe SOME Squibs actually have one form of mild magical ability. A "one trick pony." And since all "mutants" thus far have had no connection to the magical community, mutants are actually these one-trick Squibs, only Muggle-born.
Or, or, maybe MAGIC is causing the mutations? Perhaps if the right person lives in the right vicinity... after all, weren't there many one-trick magicians in the past? Lots of psychics, people with odd skin colors, and teleportation... When wizard-kind went "underground," they stopped living near Muggles too terribly much, I think. Perhaps when they began mixing with the Muggle population more, the one-tricks started coming back?
Hmm. I think that would probably be a derogatory term. One-trick. Obviously, I'm going to have to fudge some things for it to work - the two canons cannot coexist very nicely as they are, especially considering the movieverses versus sources of both tales. Plus, movies and comics both leave a lot more to interpretation than books. To a point.
Definitely an AU situation. Hmm... Rogue/Logan, Hermione/Severus, maybe a Bobby and a Ginny death and make it Harry/Kitty? LOL, the acid-skin girl with the anger-management guy with six knives in his hands, the know-it-all and the snarky bastard Potions master, and the brave Boy-Who-Lived with the girl who walks through walls. I kinda like it. =)
Hate Magneto, I think we'll kill him already. Volde is a good antagonist... maybe he's gaining power in the mutant community? I rikes, I rikes.
