He writes to her in secret. At night, while they’re on the move, he forms the words he wants to say in his head and waits until the two people who are literally keeping him alive fall asleep at dawn before he writes them down.
His heart is heavy. His head is full of scenarios too gruesome for laughter. Writing to Ginny, his heart and head are emptied of the atrocities of his task.
He hears Hermione moan in her sleep or Ron let out a terrible grumble.
She won’t ever know. Writing to Ginny will be his secret. Forever.
