I.

It was stupid, she knew. There was no point in denying or hiding any of it, but she was utterly unwilling to share intimate details with the unwashed masses of students still wondering whether it should be embarassing to change in front of dorm mates.

Cho had watched them by turns, wondering what it would be like to be in their skin; to be next to it, to touch it, and to be at ease, unable to sense which of them might share her... unique point of view--though she knew which she'd choose, if such a thing were possible.

Finally having found out, she'd wandered the castle head held high; warm secret safely held close to her chest. Their clandestine meetings were soft and sudden and easy to accomplish as there were no wards set up for what apparently were her kind. Soon enough she'd wished there were.

Cho wrapped herself around Mandy, trying to convince her not to go; not to be upset over such a small matter; not to leave her to her thoughts alone again and ended up clutching her pillow, having settled the debate as to whether one should be embarassed or not.

She was.

II.

Flying her broom low to the ground, Cho flew directly into the Forbidden Forest, finding the thought of crashing headlong into a Thestral both highly amusing and horrifying. Dodging trees and targeting small, convenient objects was her private way of practicing her Quidditch moves, and having never had anyone offer to tag along, she had no idea if anyone would be able to keep up.

She had ducked a thick branch and was spiralling downward around a bare tree trunk intent upon the small golden mushroom near the base of the tree, when a reddish blur suddenly crossed her path. Her inverted world turned a little further than it should have and she tumbled onto the forest floor, lost as to where up or down or in between might be. Finally at a stop, she realized that she was weighted heavily by a mass of red and gold and scarlet and freckles.

Ginny grinned and held the mushroom snitch with one hand in the barely-enough space between them, brushing leaves and dirt from Cho's forehead with the other. Grinning back despite the sharp rock poking her back, their lips made contact gently at first; then not so much.

Ravenclaw wins!

III.

At first it had been a terribly funny joke; the entire Ravenclaw seventh year class deciding to dress like Harry Potter for Halloween. They'd hatched the plan and laughed hysterically for hours; guffawing and snorting on and off for days afterwards. Cho dissented at first, but quieted, realizing the full scope of her opportunities.

One month and a hipflask full of foul potion later, she followed her classmates to the Feast, trying not to squirm. The Hall exploded with laughter as they entered and squeezed in at the Gryffindor table, and Harry himself could do nothing but shake his head in both amusement and paranoia.

Cho, on the other hand, set her sights on the bushy-haired member of the Potter fan club; the one who assumed that no one could recognize the depth of her longing-- that no one would catch the looks that she reigned in as quickly as possible. Cornered outside the Hall, Hermione had stared a long moment before giving in, making it clear that she was allowing herself to be fooled.

Sliding her fingers under the edges of Hermione's shirt, Cho wondered if kissing as Harry would be as strange as kissing Harry.

It was. Nearly.
