Title: A "Simple" Mission
Character(s)/Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, Ron, Theo
Rating: PG (to be safe)
Word Count: 1,100
Warning(s): none except zombie biting
Prompt: (if used; please credit the creator of your prompt if you have used one!!) Own Idea a parody too
Summary: How is Harry going to finish this mission and ask Draco out, if there are zombies about?
Author's Note: I really had a long story in mind, but RL really worked hard against me not to have this completed the way I wanted. The ending is a bit open so I hope that doesn't anger people. I would love to thank the mods for giving me an extension and letting me work with it while RL conspired against me. (hugs) Thank you!! This can also be a parody of the Resident Evil games with an HP twist. I hope it comes off that way. >< Well enjoy!

Harry didn’t know how a rescue mission could go so wrong so fast. The report stated a simple rescue mission for the two teams that disappeared, during their investigation of a pure blood enthusiast mansion. Kingsley teamed Harry and Ron with Draco and Theo for extra help in the investigation. Ron fussed, but Harry didn’t mind. It gave him a reason to be around Draco without the barrier of offices or paperwork.

The mission sounded simple. Harry felt it was going to be finished with it in a few days. He was going to use the break to ask out Draco. However, when they arrived at the mansion, Harry realized Kingsley left out a few important details.

Such as, the owner of the mansion wanted to create Pureblood wizards and witches with a potion specified for that purpose. Another important fact to mention is the downturn of the experiment when the people taking the potion died then returned as zombies.

Harry didn’t expect it, giving the common look of the mansion. It looked like an ordinary mansion with the lush gardens and extravagant fountains. There wasn’t anything that stuck out when they walked inside. There were the same ornate rugs, marble sculptures, and intricate floor designs on the tiles. The staircases twisted upward towards the many rooms that were upstairs.

Harry and his team walked upstairs to investigate the library. The last location the previous team told Kingsley about. Harry and Draco checked the surroundings upstairs, while Ron and Theo worked downstairs. Harry and Draco talked quietly for a few minutes before Ron screamed. The sound disrupted Harry and Draco’s conversation and sent them downstairs.

Harry couldn’t believe the sight that greeted them. Two of the missing members were zombies. One of the missing members bit Ron while the other attacked Theo. Harry and Draco cast the normal defensive spells, but the spells didn’t work. Draco cast a fire spell at the zombies. During the confusion, Harry pulled Ron and Theo away and dragged them out the room. Draco cast another fire spell on a pile of books before he ran out the room.

Wails and screams of anguish sounded behind Harry and Draco as they ran to the nearest room with their fallen teammates. Draco closed the door behind them while Harry took Ron and Theo to the bed. He laid them down on the comforter then collapsed in the closest chair. The image of rotting flesh and lifeless eyes wouldn’t leave his mind. Draco walked over and started to check the bites on Ron and Theo.

Harry got up and started to pace the bedroom. He looked over at the pale forms of Ron and Theo, swallowing back the fear in the middle of his throat. Harry returned to pacing the room.

“You know pacing isn’t going to make things better.” Draco snapped.

“What else can we do? Ron and Theo were bit by-by those things!” Harry exclaimed.

“You mean zombies.”

“Yeah I do. I can’t believe those are real. I just thought it was a muggle thing.”

“Zombies aren’t muggle. We have them in the Wizarding World as you can see.”

“I see now, but I always thought it was something muggles created to put in their movies when they needed a hit or something for the summer season.”

Draco frowned. “Why would they do that?”

Harry waved it away. “It’s a long story. Anyway what can we do? A healer is probably miles away and we can’t apparate out of here.”

“McKinson had a Potion’s lab, correct?”

“Yeah, why?”

“I’m going to give you a list of ingredients I need.” Draco stood up and walked over to the desk in the room. He pulled open a drawer, fished out some parchment and tapped the surface with his wand. “I need you to go down to the lab and get these things. If you can, I should be able to make something in the nearby lab”
“Can it stop the effects?” Harry accepted the parchment and put it in his pocket.

“It will for a whole day. However, if we can’t get out by then, I’ll just have to try and make some more.” Draco glanced at Ron and Theo. “I’m going to look for ways to get around the wards. After I do that I’ll look into fixing the fireplace, so we can make a call to Kingsley.”

“Alright,” Harry jumped at the bumps down the hall. “Are you going to be okay?”

“Yes,” Draco paled at the sound of another bump, but didn’t break face. “I’ll barricade the door once you leave. If anything happens, I’ll be able to protect Ron and Theo. Let’s just hope the situation doesn’t dissolve to that.”

“I hope not. If you need to contact me, use the two way bracelets. Send a patronus if you can.”

“I will.”

“Draco,”

“Yes Harry,”

Harry leaned forward, pressing his lips against Draco’s softly. Draco’s eyes widened in surprise, before his lids lowered in bliss. He placed his hand on Harry’s arm as Harry cupped his cheek. It wasn’t the most ideal of places to share a first kiss, but time wasn’t on their side.

Harry broke the kiss and stepped back. He flinched when the bump sounded at the end of the hallway again. “I know this isn’t the right time, but I figured now would be a better time than any.”

“For once you used your head.” Draco kissed him again, making sure to slide his fingers through Harry’s hair. He wanted more time to memorize the silky strands through his fingers, but the slight touch would have to suffice for now.

Draco pulled back and touched Harry’s cheek. “Don’t do that idiotic thing where you become heroic and think you can take on everything.”

“I won’t,”

“Be careful,”

“I will. Keep working on a way to help Ron and Theo.”

“I will,”

Fear and tension hung in the air like one of the many empty portraits in the room. Harry and Draco knew it was taking a risk, but they had to take it. The zombies of the lost team weren’t going to stop their assault. Ron and Theo two of the best in combat, were taken down by a mere bite. Harry couldn’t screw up. Draco’s potion was one of their last chances.

Harry leaned forward in an attempt to kiss Draco again, but stopped. He brushed his fingers against Draco’s lips and pulled away.

“I’ll be back.”

“You better,”

Harry grinned as he turned towards the door. He took a breath, took out his wand, and walked out.
