The London WorldCon, and more

Whoa, it's déjà vu all over again.

I'd more or less forgotten about LJ (again), but then someone reminded me that it was the 7th Anniversary of the release of Deathly Hallows (aka 7 years since Sectus). So of course I had to go delving into the archives for nostalgia, and then this comm popped up.

So, 2015? Good advance planning. But in the meantime... I know there's no Meetup this year, but the next few weeks are chock full of geeky goodness, and I thought I'd share.

http://www.loncon3.org is the World Science-Fiction convention, hosted in London's Excel Centre on August 14th-18th. With thousands of members and some of the biggest names in SF&F attending, it's going to be one heck of a party.

There's also http://www.nineworlds.co.uk aka (London Geekfest) the weekend before; a relatively new convention on the scene, but making big waves with its determination to be as welcoming and inclusive (and wide-ranging) as possible.

And of course, http://www.shamrokon.ie is the 2014 EuroCon (European SF convention) is in Dublin just *after* Loncon. Similar yet different, and with a distinct Celtic flavour.

Finally, you push into September, and that's http://www.titancon.com, a fan-run Game of Thrones concon in Belfast that punches far above its weight in terms of guests and fun.

Anyway, enough with the plugs. It's pleasing to see this group still going! Keep having fun, and if any of you are going, to any of them, let's meet in the bar!
