Film Discussion: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Nov 15, 2014 17:33

With our final two movies, Deathly Hallows parts I & II, we wrap up our HP reunion film discussions. Thank you so much to everyone who participated in these posts--it's been a lot of fun seeing what you all loved and hated from the movies, and to relive some of the memorable scenes and moments with you all. You guys are awesome! So, without further ado:

Today we're discussing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows parts I & II. They were released on 19 November 2010 and 15 July 2011, respectively, though they were filmed as one. The films were written by Steve Kloves, and directed by David Yates. These films are packed full with the plotty goodness of the book. With Part I, we get the 7 Harrys, Bill and Fleur's wedding, a Death Eater attack in Muggle London, the trio incognito at the Ministry of Magic, Horcrux hunting in the countryside, the Silver Doe, Xenophilius Lovegood and the Hallows, Malfoy Manor, and the death of Dobby. Part II gives us Shell Cottage, Gringotts and the dragon, Hogsmeade controlled by the Death Eaters, the epic Battle of Hogwarts, many deaths, Harry's journey into the forest to face his death, and the final battle with Voldemort.

We'll start several comment threads below to get the discussion going. Feel free to reply to as many or as few as you'd like, or start new threads with questions or comments of your own.
