BOOK DISCUSSION: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Nov 10, 2014 06:39

“It is time,” he said, “for me to tell you what I should have told you five years ago, Harry. Please sit down. I am going to tell you everything.”

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was published in 2003. After cranking out a book a year for four years running, fans had to wait three long years for this one, and JKR delivered us a 766 (UK)/870 (US) page mammoth beast. Book Five brought us the Wizengamot; number twelve, Grimmauld Place; thestrals and giants; the Hogwarts High Inquisitor and educational decrees; Dumbledore’s Army; Snape’s worst memory; Occlumency and Legilimency; St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries; O.W.L.s; the prophecy and the veil.

Several comment threads will be started with questions to get the discussion rolling. Feel free to reply to as many or as few as you’d like, or start new threads with questions or comments of your own. Book Five contains an enormous amount of plot, new characters, and content-my questions only address a few specific points, so please see fit to bring up anything I may not have mentioned!
