My thoughts were that for the most part I thought it was the best movie of the first four. They finally found the balance between adaption and good movie. I liked most of the new cast (Moody and Krum in particular). I liked the way they did the tasks and the Yule Ball. I thought it was a great adaption and also a fun movie. And one scene that was short but particularly well done was when Harry comes back from the graveyard. The pain of Cedric's father and Harry's clear trauma were perfectly done.
The two things that disappointed me were Voldemort and the graveyard. Which surprised me because Ralph Fiennes is one of my favorite actors. But he played it way more hammy than serious, and that removed a lot of the menace of Voldemort for me.
Oh, and I go back and forth on Barty Jr. Some parts were good but other parts were a bit too hammy for my taste (the tongue thing for example). I love David Tennant, but he was just okay for me.

And that quick shot of Cedric and his father embracing before Cedric went into the maze! Oh, that broke my heart more than Cedric's father crying, somehow. Maybe because I was expecting Cedric to show up dead and people to be upset, but not that quick moment?
Yeah, the Barty Crouch Jr. Stuff was a bit hit and miss for me. The tongue thing was weird, but when we see it later with Moody I got why they did it. They need a mannerism that would be remembered so it would be noticed on another character's face. Still... it was weird.
I was pleasantly surprised, I think, because after PoA I resigned myself to pretty much assuming there'd be a lot of changes and stuff. IIRC there were, but I was fine with them. I was sorry that a WB-released preview had spoiled the really cute scene when Fred mimes going to the ball with Angelina or something - I forget the exact details, but I would have liked not to have been spoiled for it because it was so damn cute.
I was fairly disappointed. I felt the film had butchered the plot somewhat. I mean, it's a much longer book than the others so I was prepared that I bunch of stuff would be left out or changed, but I thought the priorities were off, really. The beginning with the world cup and the DE attack there was cut awfully short and there was a really jarring transition for celebration to utter chaos. That felt to me like they'd been told to make it shorter and then just randomly cut out a bit there.
I could have accepted that much easier if they didn't later go on to what felt like hours of showing of CGI skills in the first and second task. I still don't understand why those sections couldn't have been shortened dramatically in favour of some more... you know, plot.
I was very unhappy with the way this film turned out. On the upside it meant that OotP couldn't possibly disappoint me because I was left with having absolutely no expectations of greatness. (And indeed I remember enjoying OotP tremendously)
The graphics were spectacular, but that's not why I go to hardly any movie tbh. The emotional stuff didn't have the same impact on me as they did in the books, and the fun parts weren't fun enough. Mostly, the main thing I take away from this movie and revisit the most are the Harry/Ron bits. SO MUCH ANGST! ♥♥
