CONSTANT VIGILANCE!Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was published in 2000. At 636 (UK)/734 (US) pages, this book was by far the longest to date (although it didn’t stay that way for long!). In Book Four we were introduced to the Quidditch World Cup; to Durmstrang and Beauxbatons; to veela, merpeople, and Hungarian horntails; to the three tasks ( Read more... )

This is where a lot of romance started picking up. What are your favorite shippy moments that took place? (All ships welcome! Put the ship in the subject line)

These were some of my favorite shippy moments in the book. Victor/Hermione is probably my second favorite Hermione ship. They are so adorable together. I love the pairing of a jock with a smart girl. Defies stereotypes in a good way. And he was genuinely nice and sweet to her and took an interest in her for who she was.

*gasps*

Does this mean ... is it possible ... that you like ... Ron (a lesser jock) / Hermione (the smartest girl)?!?!?!

And he was genuinely nice and sweet to her and took an interest in her for who she was.

Whew! Crisis averted. You don't. :-)

Hi, mod here. Please refrain from bashing ships, characters, and the people who like them. It is okay to have an opinion and share it but jumping in on an unrelated thread to make a judgmental comment is not keeping in the spirit of a civil discussion. Smiley faces do not negate rudeness. Thank you.

Adorable. I loved that they both had this shared background, one that neither was comfortable with. They both dealt with prejudice and hate for who they were. They understood each other. And Hagrid with a serious crush was adorable.

I agree with this. He even attempted to comb his hair and beard!

I thought it was so sweet and I remember cheering because Hagrid deserved more love. And I loved that Maxime, sophisticated powerful headmistress madam maxime took a liking to him.

I know that Ginny ultimately didn't really have fun, but I still thought they were cute together. It is the sort of relationship were I can see them overlooking each other, but then looking back and realizing that feelings had started to develop. I thought they would be a good match for each other, and I thought the few scenes they had in GOF were cute.

This is how I felt as well.

I thought Harry's subtle noticing of Hermione in her Yule Ball dress was cute. Sort of the idea of a friend noticing another friend as a potential romantic partner for the first time. Of course, things went a different way, but I always prefer more subtle things like that to jealousy and the like.

Ron. I love you. More than anything in the world.

But Harry understood what was going on when you and Hermione had that row, after the ball.

Harry is the most self-centred biscuit in literature.

If Harry realised you fancy each other, you are impossible.

I think Harry being 'oblivious' is a better descriptor than being 'self-centered'

After all he has noticed other people. In sirius case for instance, his focus was always no sirius not on himself.

His Wheezy.

The thing he'd miss most.

I loved that Cho was still attracted to Harry even though she went with Cedric. When Harry asked her to go with him she seemed genuinely sorry that he hadn't asked her first.

The moment Hermione is silent for ten minutes (probably a record) because she's thinking about Snape and what Harry saw in the Pensieve about how he was once a Death Eater.
