Out on the Town: Pansy and Kevin run in to each other

Kevin usually didn't go out unless he was in the company of Mike and his group of friends or if he had some sort of date. He'd dropped into this bar on the off chance that no one would notice him and that he would be able to just relax for the first time since New Year's Eve.

He headed for the bar, weaving around people standing near the dance floor. As soon as he'd made it to the bar, he ordered a beer and had a seat on an empty bar stool at the very end of the bar.

Despite her bad date, Pansy found she was in a fairly good mood. Someone took the seat next to her, and she turned to offer them a smile. "Entwistle, right?" she asked, recognizing the man. She knew him from Hogwarts, of course, and more recently she saw him around the Ministry, though they hadn't actually talked.

"Ah, Parkinson," he said, grinning as he recognized the woman beside him. "Fancy seeing you here."

[girly_pansy]

Pansy grinned. "It's a nice change from work. Enjoying yourself?" She took a sip of her drink, cocking her head in his direction.

"Just got here," he replied, nodding his thanks to the bartender. "Thank God it's the weekend, yeah?"

"You're telling me," she groaned. "I've had quite enough paperwork to last me a lifetime. I suppose your job is more interesting?"

"Oh sure," he replied with a grunt. "If you think dealing with people trying to send dragon eggs into the country is interesting and less time consuming."

She snorted softly into her drink. "Well, when you put it that way..." She trailed off with a laugh. "So are you here by yourself, or what?"

"I'm never alone," he replied with a smirk and dug in his pants to pull out his mobile. "Corner keeps an eye on me through this. Bloody ponce."

[girly_pansy]

She eyed the object with some suspicion. After all, it was clearly of Muggle make, and one could never tell quite what a Muggle object might do. "What does it do?" she asked, curious, despite herself.

"I'm sure you've heard of telephones," she said, noticing her look. "This is a mobile. I can take it anywhere."

[girly_pansy]

She rolled her eyes. "Of course I've heard of telephones," she replied loftily, hoping he wouldn't notice her embarrassed blush at not knowing something so apparently simple. "I just don't have any use for Muggle things, so I had never seen one of these mobile whatsits."

Kevin gave a shrug. "I guess it's a Muggle-born thing," he replied, taking a swig of his beer. "It's nearly the only way my parents can reach me if they need something, so that's why I have it...and because Corner wouldn't know what to do with himself if he had to send me owls."

[girly_pansy]

She wrinkled her nose and took a long drink. "I definately won't be getting one, in that case. God knows I don't need another way for my mother to contact me." She frowned thoughtfully for a moment. "It might be nice to talk to Draco when he's away though," she mused.

"Somehow, I don't see Malfoy getting one of these," he replied with a laugh.

"He might if I told him to," she protested, "especially if you believe the Prophet."
