The New Year's Eve Plot!

Dec 31, 2007 23:40

Millicent made her way to the Department of Mysteries with Adrian by her side. No one had stopped them so far. Even the guards seemed to be off duty tonight. It was unusual, but she'd suggested to Percy that he demand that everyone be off tonight.

No one was in the Department when she entered and she and Adrian made their way quickly to the Veil.

Bellatrix turned her wide-eyed, unblinking stare on Millicent. The last thing she remembered was a flash of green light and a pain in her right hand. It was gone now. "Thank you," she said, in a tone that was less polite and more dangerous. She looked around, recognising the place where she had killed her cousin. "Why am I here?"

"Both of you are here," Millicent started, waving her hand around the room. "Because you've come back from the dead through the Veil. The current Minister of Magic is a complete blighter. He's been almost impossible to control, but now that I have him under the Imperius curse, he's quite cooperative. The Ministry is allowing Muggles and lower magical creatures to have rights in our world. We need to take the wizarding world back. That is why you are here. But I can't say much more than that, as we are in the Ministry. I must get you both safely back to Bulstrode Manor where we can speak most freely."

A thin smile spread across Bellatrix's face. The news that she had been dead and brought back to life didn't perturb her in the slightest. Whoever this girl was, she was young and no doubt inexperienced. Once Bella found out the score, she would be the one in charge.

Salazar unwillingly turned to Bellatrix. "Are you a member of Nigellus family?" he asked suddenly, recognizing her stature. The Nigellus family was a very prominent family where he was from, dating back to way before he had lived.

Lived. How had he died?

"Of course," Bellatrix said, tossing her long dark hair over her shoulder. She narrowed her eyes at him, noting that his face was familiar. "I am Bellatrix Lestrange, formerly Black. And you are?"

He raised his eyebrows, somewhat taken aback at being addressed like this. "My name is Salazar Slytherin."

Bellatrix laughed. "What a fortunate name! Are you a descendant?"

He shook his head solemnly. "I don't believe there were any Salazars before me," he admitted.

"Silence, both of you!" she hissed. "This is not the place nor the time to go into such things. Lucius and Theodore are awaiting our return. We must leave quickly and quietly."

She nodded toward the door and motioned for Adrian to lead. She didn't trust Bellatrix, nor did the fully trust Slytherin...so she wasn't going to let them at her back any time soon.

Adrian led the way out of the Department of Mysteries, still confused by this exchange. He raised an eyebrow, smirking at who was boss, and stalked out the complicated doors without trouble.

Bellatrix walked out with perfect posture and a serene expression, though inwardly she was fuming. How dare this chit of a girl order her around? She glanced to her side, where the newly resurrected Salazar was walking. Could this really be the Slytherin? A multitude of possibilities raced through her mind as she observed him.

Salazar looked at her incredulously. Who was she, a mere woman, to order him about? What was this world coming to?

Glaring at the back of the boy named 'Adrian's' head, Salazar felt himself being watched. He turned to the source of it all, raising his eyebrows when he noticed that it was that Lestrange woman. "Like what you see?" he murmured rather cheekily, though his expression was utterly solemn.

She pursed her lips in an evil smirk. "Your statue does you little justice, I'll admit."

"Don't they?" he wondered. "Also, what statues?" he asked suddenly.

She snickered, a child's derisive laugh. "A little out of touch, Salazar?"

"It depends," he sighed. "What year is it, again?"
