Pansy looked up from the files she was shuffling to beam at him, "Same to you, gorgeous." She tossed the files aside, and leaned back in her chair, "You're cheerful today."

"Yeah, well," he said, airily. "The sun is shining, birds are singing, etcetera."

Pansy raised her eyebrows at that, holding back a snicker, "Potter, that's cheesy, even for you. Besides, you can't hear any birds indoors."

"What can I say, it's good to be back," he said, leaning towards her to avoid being hit in the head by a high-speed memo before bouncing back. "My own house, my own bed... hell, it's even worth taking the split second to Apparate into my own office. Or... close enough, anyway. How was your week. Did you miss me?"

Pansy flicked her wand at the memo, freezing it, and then summoning it into her hand. "Thanks for using those awesome skills of yours to catch that for me," she drawled, as she unfolded it, "Sure I missed you. No one else in the department is quite as much fun to play with."

She read the memo quickly, then released it, rolling her eyes as it took off. "It's just a reminder about that bloody picnic again. Honestly, is anyone going to go to 'an afternoon of family fun with your colleagues'?" she mimicked the bubbly tones of the HR witch.

"Well, if I don't go someone'll make me pay for it, I'm sure," he grimaced.

"Oh, poor darling," Pansy teased, "I can get away without going, I think. Who was it who told me, the other day, that I'm not very family friendly?"

"I can't imagine," he chuckled. "It could be any number of poor sods who've been subjected to your attitude towards that sort of thing. Anything exciting happen in the last five days I should know about?"

She sighed dramatically, "Nothing. It's been deadly dull in here. It came close to driving me mad, and it would have been all your fault for not being here to entertain me."

"I can't be blamed for your bouts of boredom," he protested. "It's not my fault I'm the only interesting person in this dump. Apart from you, of course, sweetness."

"Good save," she observed dryly. "So how was your time away, anyway?"

He sighed, dramatically. "Let's see," he said. "I slept alone in a sleeping bag that smelt like dead racoons in a tent with six guys who smelt of other equally dead creatures looking for an evil cult group of Neo-Death Eaters who turned out to be merely trafficing illegal potions ingredients which one of them was actually using and therefore threw up on me when I tackled him to the ground which also left me with a bruise on my head which took a very uncomfortable charm to remove, so basically I had a ball."

Pansy giggled, "Such heroics! It must have been a blast. All the same, I'll stick to wrestling paperwork, I think. Speaking of which, you still need to bring me the files from the Peterly case."

Pansy smirked, "No Potter, you didn't give them to me. You," she informed him in the tones of one greatly put upon, "are a blight on my filing system."

"Damnit, that means I actually have to go in my office," he said. "I was kinda hoping to avoid that today."
