Don’t mention anywhere in this application what character you were stamped as in the regular application, so it won’t influence in the house you get into.

Name: Melissa

Go over here and find the tree that belongs to your birthday. Then scroll down and copy all the characteristics of the corresponding tree here, bolding and/or underlining the ones that apply to you. Feel free to explain if you want to, but it's not required that you do.

Fir Tree:
The Mysterious

Extraordinary taste, dignity, cultivated airs, loves anything beautiful, moody, stubborn, tends to egoism but cares for those close to it, rather modest, very ambitious, talented, industrious uncounted lover, many friends, many foes, very reliable.

What kind of people would you expect to find in each of the four houses?
I’m an avid believer that not everyone fits perfectly into just one House, because everyone is different in their own way. I also think that it’s unfair to judge one based off of where they are sorted, either; give the person a chance to prove themselves before you make assumptions (and then you can judge them! xD).

Anyhow, here are the stereotypical traits of each House. xD;

★ Slytherin: Slytherin is often perceived as the House with all the "rotten seeds," who have never done a good or decent thing in their lives. They are ambitious and proud, arrogant and elitist. If they want something or someone, they will do anything within their power to acquire it -- never-mind sabotage and blackmail.

★ Gryffindor: Gryffindor, the House which consists of those brimming with courage and pride, who thrive on adventure and the adrenaline-rush -- especially in sports or causing havoc. They are quite bright and unafraid to speak their minds, can be a little aggressive at times, and are loyal to the end.

★ Hufflepuff: Hufflepuff is looked at as the House full of happy-go-lucky people, who are ready to please others yet shy away from anything life-threatening or dangerous. They are loyal and kind, and often have subtle gifts which count in the long run.

★ Ravenclaw: Ravenclaw is the House which is made up of the smart and studious, the witty and self-preserved. They can either be very introverted, or a bit cocky and proud. Creative and intuitive, they seem like the sort to stay indoors most of the time.

What are your thoughts on domestic elves?
I admit that the elves are often times mistreated, but what sort of life do you think they would have if they were on their own? I suppose they could be happy, but how would they get by without a source of income or a roof over their heads? It’s not a lie that the wizarding folk have the upper-hand, and as for those who despise the elves, they would make their free lives a living hell and no one would take them seriously.

For what reason would you put your name in the Goblet of Fire? (if you would)
Personally, I would not want to enter the Triwizard Tournament. I do not seek glory, nor have I ever been one for competition of that sort. I’m not all that adventurous, truthfully. I’d much rather root from the sidelines (I can scream like a banshee :P).

Your class is going to visit Hogsmeade, but you don’t have the permission to go and there’s no way to get it. What do you do?
I don’t think I’d mind much staying behind. The castle (or wherever I am) would be nice and quiet, and it would give me some time to myself. I would probably end up catching up on schoolwork, or go outside to draw/paint.

If we look at your pensieve, what would be the most embarrassing moment in it? What would be the happiest one?
The most embarrassing moment that I can think of occurred in my Latin class, junior year of high school. First of all, I sat in the front row of desks at the head of the room. Everyone was working quietly -- our teacher gave us material from the Iliad to translate from Latin into English, and he was walking around the room. One way or another, I found myself asleep, and I’m almost positive that I was snoring. -_-; He lightly rapped me on the arm, causing me to wake up with quite a start. I’d never been more embarrassed. He gave me an assuring smile, but I didn’t believe him for a moment. I sank down in my chair and waited for him to walk away before I hid my face.

The happiest moment so far in my life was when I finished compiling everything I needed for my A.P. Studio Art test. All of the slides I took of my drawing portfolio (30 pieces, give or take) were in their proper place, correctly labeled, and each of my quality pieces was matted nicely. I was to send my portfolio away to the College Board here for grading that day, and at that moment of completion, I felt very accomplished. Four years of art classes went into that one pack, and I was sending it away, and hoping for the best. I’m still waiting for my results in the mail (I think they’re sending grades out in alphabetical order, which really peeves me because my last name starts with a “Y”).

What do you think about non-human creatures as professors? (werewolves, centaurs, etc)
I am perfectly fine with anyone teaching, as long as they’re fully capable to do so and they know the material. It’s all based on personal opinion if one is a good teacher or not, but this has nothing to do with what species you are. Equality, I say!

What would be the first place in Hogwarts that you would go to if you had an invisibility cloak?
Even though I know it would creep me out a bit, I’d head to the library and sneak into the Restricted Section. I’m extremely curious as to what sorts of books they have there, and I would want to find out why exactly they are restricted. :D

If you saw the Dark Mark in the sky, what would your reaction be?
"Holy shit…!"

Yep, that’s probably what I’d find myself saying at the moment, staring wide-eyed at the sky. After the initial shock wore off, I’d hightail it to wherever my friends and family are and make sure that they’re safe. Nothing would be more devastating if they were taken from me, especially considering the circumstances.

If you could only use one of the Unforgivable Curses, which one would it be?
The Imperius Curse, because I actually find its effects interesting. I mean, toying with others’ minds/lives can be cruel, but it can also be very useful if you’re faced with an enemy.

If you had Felix Felicis, would you use it? What for?
The only time I would use Felix Felicis would be if I had to speak in front of a large group of people, all who would be expecting something of me. I get very nervous, and it wouldn’t hurt to somehow ebb the nagging sense of anxiety, and give me a little bit of good luck. :P

What were your thoughts when reading about Tom Riddle’s past?
Tom Riddle was a scary, monster of a kid. Seriously, when reading about his past I couldn’t help but think about how nasty it would have been to be around him at all. Sure, I do feel bad about the sort of life he had -- how he grew up -- but there are many people out there who have lives just as terrible as his, yet Tom still turned out rotten.

Quidditch final. If your team wins, you get the cup. If it doesn’t, you’ll be the one to blame. How much would you be willing to do to win?
So much pressure! I do admit that I don’t enjoy losing, but I would never cheat to get what I want. I would instead train and work as hard as I could in order to prepare myself for this big, final shot.
