I really like this! I actually think it would work really well as a one-shot... there's so much story here I know we're missing.
# Because she knew, she made a point of slipping out to the back garden to press a packet of juice-stained letters into their neglected guest's hand. "I'm sorry for your loss, Headmaster Malfoy," she told him, almost kindly. "Now get out."
This adds an interesting layer to Lily's character; it's both empathy and anger. She acknowledges that while she doesn't approve of her father's affair, Draco must have loved him. However, it adds insult to injury and she really can't see Draco at that time.
There are, I think, a few things missing. First... I have a hard time believing that Harry would cheat on Ginny. Not because I don't ship Harry/Draco - I don't, but I have no problem with that being in here. I just feel we need more of a story as to why Harry, someone who may not always be the most moral person when it comes to his enemies but shows intense loyalty towards his friends, would betray Ginny like

I'm glad you like this, and that you've been inspired to question some of the facts-which is the point of the fest. Please feel free to select one or more to fic so that you can satisfy your feelings with regard to the points you raised. :D (I'm not putting my ideas out there beyond this entry because I want people to fic my facts). Thanks for reading!
Managed to get LJ to close part way through composing. Grr.
I still don't get the peaches, even after reading your Di post, but I get that they're intensely significant, and that's enough. I like that even in her grief Ginny did what she could to support her daughter emotionally. And I want to know why Draco's letters to Harry are juice stained! I hope if somebody writes a fic for Lils and Di that they think up a good story for this element.
I'm glad to know what you like about this fic; I'd say more about what the peaches mean to me, but I don't want to shut down anyone's fic-related ideas. Thank you!
Once she was certain that everyone who needed to be asleep was asleep, Lils pulled the cloth off of their family clock. Seeing its missing hand, she finally gave in to her grief.
WAAAAHHHHHHHH!
Sorry - that one line got me. Seriously. Hit in the heart and so sad.
I'm trying to write a bisexual character at the moment, who is having extreme angst trying to explain to the woman he loves that he also loves the company of men, and he doesn't want to have to choose. The fact that it's based in 1932 doesn't help. So Ginny knowing, but not wanting to face up to it, and Lily also knowing and letting it happen, but not approving of it, makes sense.
Because when the heart decides, it can be really hard to ignore where it's trying to go.
