Bi-Weekly challenge: "Decide what you want, decide what you are willing to exchange for it....

Who? Harry Potter, Seamus Finnigan, and Oliver Wood
What? Three Gryffindor Alumni attend a morning meeting, and talk politics and career opportunities.
When? Monday morning in grownhp6words
Why? Because those rebels from Potter's generation have grown up to acquire positions of power, and once you're DA you're always DA. Wood may have graduated before the DA kicked into action, but make no mistake which group he belongs too. Besides, they're allowed to give Severus a hard time, but how dare some outsider be brought in to do it?

Harry Potter strides into the Ministry of Magic as if he owns the place. For the last ten years he has mostly kept away from the Ministry. He served them as an auror, and later as the head of the department for nearly twenty years. The moment he stepped down he made a vow that he would not return to the department. Harry Potter keeps his vows. He isn't heading toward the Auror's department at all. Instead he heads straight for Oliver Wood's office.

Oliver has been the Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports for years, and is currently working hand in hand with the Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation to keep the Triwizard Tournament running smoothly. The current Head of the International Magical Cooperation Department is Seamus Finnigan. Harry had firecalled him last night and is expecting him to join Oliver and Harry for this meeting.

When he enters the office he finds Seamus already there, and Oliver debating with him about Ireland's chances with the World Cup. "Harry, it's good to see you. What's on your mind?" Oliver was never one to waste time. He liked to get to the heart of the matter quickly. That is why Harry specifically wished to come to him and Seamus with his request before approaching the International Council at The Hague later in the day.

"Hello, Harry, long time no chat, Mate." Seamus grins at him as Harry takes the seat next to him and across from Oliver's desk.

"The Ministry has appointed Heim as High Inquisitor." Seven words is all it takes for a glowering look to appear on Seamus's face, and a sigh of frustration to escape from Oliver.

"Godric knows that went so well the last time," Seamus points out. Harry absently rubs the back of his hand where the scar still remains. If either of the other men catch the move they don't let on about it. "What do you need?"

"An in to Hogwarts that Heim can't control. I'm going to step down as a part-time Professor. I'm hoping I'll be able to use my new position as an excuse. Heim is going to have too much influence and control over the Hogwarts professors."

"Oh, I'd pay a hundred galleons to see him attempt to push Neville, Lupin and Snape around," Seamus says with a chuckle in his voice.

"Indeed. I don't think you'll have to pay up, Mate. He's going to be aiming straight at Lupin, and probably Snape too. He's suffered a horrible loss, and is in no condition to have the authority that has been passed down to him. It's fear you know, fear is motivating the Minister to make these sorts of decisions. Any chance Percy can talk some sense into him?" Oliver looks at Harry as if expecting him to have an answer. It's his brother-in-law after all.

"I'm going to talk with him, but not here. He can't afford to speak to me about this here at the Ministry. If they even suspect he is assisting those of us who are not falling in line with these new regulations he'll put his job at risk. We need him where he is." Harry will simply have to catch his brother-in-law at a family dinner. Maybe Molly will make that lamb and potato stew that everyone is so fond of. That is guaranteed to put everyone into an agreeable mood after all.

"What do you need from us?" Seamus asks, leaning forward to rest his elbows on his knees.

"A job," Harry replies with a grin.

Oliver and Seamus exchange looks before turning their attention back to Harry. "A job?" Oliver asks, his mind rolling around what Harry said just moments before. "One that will place you at Hogwarts, but will not fall under Heim's control. Sure, Mate, I can give you a job, but you'd still be a Ministry employee. He's going to have some say in what you do."

"Not if I'm specifically backed by The International Council. I think I can pull a few favors there."

"You're the boy who lived after all," Seamus teases as Harry rolls his eyes. No matter how old any of them get, they resort to being teenagers when in the same room together. Gryffindor alumni just can't help themselves really.

"Cho, Bell, and Smith all work there. That should give you three favors, yeah?" Oliver asks, as he leans back in his chair. He tosses a snitch up in the air and catches it absently. He continues to do this until he finally grins.

"Right, well I could use someone full time at Hogwarts overseeing the champions safety, and ensuring that nothing interferes with the Triwizard tournament. As a former champion yourself, as well as a former auror I can't think of anyone more qualified to be my chief security head and liaison to The International Council." Oliver grins as Seamus smirks. Harry simply looks pleased.

"Exactly what I was hoping for."

"I can send a quick memo over to The Hague to arrange for Cho, Bell and Smith to accompany you to whatever meeting you've already arranged. They were around for the last High Inquisitor's reign, and for the last Tournament. That along with the fact you are who you are, and you arranged that truce a decade back should be enough to get your official appointment from the International Council. After all, Beauxbatons and Durmstrang both have students there. They will need be to protected from any stress that this Hogwarts audit causes." Seamus stands up and heads for the door. "They should be ready to meet with you by the time you arrive. If you need anything, just firecall. We may need new DA coins though, unless Hermione's magic has withstood all these years."

When the door closes, Harry turns his attention to Oliver who is already pressing quill to parchment writing out his official recommendation that Potter be hired on as a liaison between Oliver's office and The International Council. "Right, I'm sending a copy of this to Vickers. That's who you have your appointment with, yes?"

"Indeed."

"Take a copy with you as well. I'm not saying I don't trust the security of the owls out of the Ministry right now, but you can never be too careful."

"Or too paranoid," Harry points out as Oliver nods his head. There is no smile on either of their faces at that remark. After all, they were the generation that saw what could happen to Hogwarts when the wrong people were in charge and motivated by fear and political aspirations.

"Good luck, Harry."

"Thanks...boss," He winks, as he takes the paper and heads out of the office. His meeting at the Hague will take several hours. By the time he is finished, and with the help of three of his DA members posted there, he'll have the backing of the council. He'll also have a position that will allow him to assist Severus, Remus, the professors, and most of all the students, that not even Heim can touch.

Draco will probably have secured his appointment to the school before Harry can return.

Show off.
