Who? Harry Potter and anyone who wishes to attend the party
What? A birthday party for Severus Snape. Well, for Al too, but it's mostly to annoy Severus. Unfortunately for Al he shares the day with Sev.
When? Right before dinner on Wednesday during the grownhp6words timeline
Why? Because Sev said not too and frankly that is good enough for Harry.
Author's notes: This is open to anyone who wishes to be at the party. Harry sent out invitations in Slytherin colors.
The thing about Harry Potter is that you can't warn him not to do something. It merely makes him all the more inclined to do it just because. So, when he saw the warning from Severus that any birthday well wishers would be hexed he clearly had to ensure that whatever he did was worth the hex. Oh those children of Marauders, they just can't resist the temptation to go above and beyond the call of duty when being obnoxious. Harry was the original Marauder's child so he felt even more obligated to set a proper example for his godson and the other Marauder children.
It's just about dinner time when the doors to the castle are opened by one Harry James Potter. He has a very good reason to be there for course. It's not just Sev's birthday. Oh no, it's his son's birthday too, and what kind of father would Harry be if he didn't come to the castle to wish Al a proper happy birthday?
Of course...the fact that he's practically leading a parade of various sorts of birthday entertainers makes word spread quickly in the castle. Professor Potter has arrived...and he's brought friends. His friends are clowns, dancers, a band with their instruments, magicians, and various other sorts of entertainers. All of them are wizards. Either Hogwarts alumni or friends of friends who graduated from Beauxbatons and other wizarding schools.
There is a Johnny Cash impersonator. He's there to deliver a singing telegram to the headmaster. This will be how Severus becomes aware that his school has been taken over by Harry Potter for a birthday extravaganza. Personally he thought Sev should be pleased he was talked out of the snake charmer by Draco.
"Honestly, Potter," Draco had said while sitting up on the roof of Grimmauld with Harry a few nights before. "You have to save something for Christmas."
He had a point after all. So, while there was no snake charmer there were face painters, clowns blowing loud whistles and driving a small circus car through the halls. Some were making balloon animals for the students who stood shocked by the make-shift circus that had settled in the halls. The band played Folsom Prison Blues and used magic to make sure everyone on the castle grounds could hear them. Dancers wearing school colors, all houses properly represented of course, made their way into the Great Hall for a proper birthday lunch.
With a flick of a wrist in the Great Hall there were birthday decorations. Slytherin green and silver balloons, streamers, and a huge 'Happy Birthday Headmaster Snape and Professor Al Potter' filled the room. Oh it was a sight to see! Party hats were sitting at all four house tables as well as the professor's table. Severus couldn't be cross with Harry of course. Harry had gone to great lengths to ensure Sev's party hat was a tasteful...black. There were even black balloons tied to the Headmaster's chair.
"What..." Harry turned and looked at the shocked headmaster from Durmstrang. He seemed to have lost his words. Which of course prompted Harry Friggen' Potter to place a green party hat on top of the man's head.
"It's a party. Make sure you wish Headmaster Snape a proper birthday."
Harry looked around at the display and hoped that the invitations he sent to everyone got there in time. They wouldn't want to miss this party after all. With his arms folded across his chest he grinned in satisfaction. While it may not be a Martha Stewart approved party you had to give him some credit; clearly he paid a little attention to the times Sirius talked about hosting parties.
As the dancers took their places by each table and the band continued to play Johnny Cash's greatest hits, students began to stream into the Great Hall. They were greeted by the clowns who offered to make them balloon animals. The mimes were taking their place near the faculty table. Oh he did hope the two massive birthday cakes would be ready on time.
Looking over at Gracie Leigh who was currently dissolving into giggles, Harry said in a very serious tone, "If they find my body later...it was Severus who killed me."
"Okay Uncle Harry." Her eyes grew wide as she peaked out the window and saw what was being set up on the school grounds. "Is that a carnival?????"
"Indeed. We had to charm the tents Slytherin colors. Thank Merlin for magic, right?"
She was bouncing with excitement which was spreading among the other students as well.
Satisfied that the hall and the school grounds was ready for the party, he leaned against the Gryffindor table and waited for everyone to arrive.
