This was absolutely wonderful. I loved how James was still trying to find his footing about being an Alpha, and call me crazy, but I think it wasn't until he saw Scorpius that he felt that protective instinct to be more latent in him.
I loved that he was instantly smitten with him, that protective nature really came to light and it was just lovely.
I loved that Scorpius felt it, even as scared as he was when they first met, I think he took comfort of James presense.
And then later when Scorpius stayed with them, it was so fun watching everybody keeping James busy. :D But I love those stolen moments they had, when they talked about what was happening and what they wanted. How they knew they wanted, how responsible they were wanting to wait - I bet that's not easy!
I loved the dynamics, the scents and reactions, Harry being Omega, the way they taught their children. I think Teddy was awesome!
Such a sweet ending - I'll admit though, I wouldn't mind reading more and more about then seeing each other after summer and see their bonding taking place. It was wonderful. Thank you, mystery author! This is my Next Gen OTP and reading this was wonderful. <333
James definitely didn't properly grow into himself as an alpha or an adult until he met Scorpius and had to think about and feel what it was like being in a pre-bond relationship with someone else. I really like writing instant attraction fics and then writing the relationship building afterwards so I'm glad I'm not the only one!
James' scent calmed Scorpius just as much as Scorpius' scent did the same to James.
I wanted to try and get a balancing act between the James/Scorpius and the rest of the extended family because they might drive James up the wall, but they're a really important part of him as well as his parents being A/O.
I was going to write another 5000 words in this where Scorpius went into heat but they still couldn't bond so James had to be comforting and alpha without bonding but I ran out of time! Maybe I'll revisit the universe someday.
Thank you, this is my Next Gen OTP as well so I'm always happy to write more of this pairing and I'm really glad you liked it!
