Fest Announcement, Rules & Guidelines
We are so excited to announce the 2018 hp_nextgen_fest. This fest is an anonymous, prompt-based fic and art fest focusing on any and all Harry Potter next gen characters.
2018 Timeline:
Prompting: August 6-17
Claiming Opens: August 20
Works Due: October 22
Posting Starts: November 5
Rules & Guidelines:
Participants and readers of this fest MUST be 18 years old. There will be explicit stories within hp_nextgen_fest and the mods take no responsibility for underage readers or writers.
All submissions will remain anonymous until after posting. Please don't post your submission anywhere else until after the reveals go up.
Any fanworks where the main characters are next gen characters are permitted. This includes multiple pairings, moresomes, het, slash, femslash, or gen. If you have any questions about whether or not something would work for this fest, please email us at ngfestmods@gmail.com.
For the purposes of this fest, cross gen is considered next gen if there is at least one next gen character involved.
Any pairings that satisfy the next gen requirement are permitted. This includes multiple pairings, moresomes, het, slash, femslash, or gen.
Any and all ratings and genres are welcome!
All fest works will be hosted entirely on the hp_nextgen_fest Collection on AO3. More information pertaining to AO3 posting can be found here. Headers will be cross-posted to livejournal and tumblr.
All entries must be beta read. No exceptions. We reserve the right to send your work back to you for revision. We reserve the right to make minor SPaG changes to your fanworks.
If you need an extension, please send us an email as soon as possible. Things come up, life happens, we get that. Just let us know ASAP so we can get everything sorted.
If you must withdraw from the fest, please let us know in a timely manner. Please don't disappear. We'll probably start freaking out and think you've been kidnapped, so please save us the stress! :)
A submission header will be made available closer to the submission date.
Fics including Cursed Child canon are more than welcome.
Fic:
• The minimum word count is 1,000 words, no maximum.
• All stories must be beta-read. If you need help finding a beta, try looking on hp_betas and hp_betas_wanted.
• All fics must be stand alone fics. This means they should not be prequels or sequels to any existing work and should be created solely for this fest.
• Please include the proper html tags in the body of your story. We will send it back if they are not included. If you need help with the proper codes to place, you can find a great guide here by phoenixacid.
• When your story is complete, please email it to ngfestmods@gmail.com as a doc or docx attachment. The subject of your email should read: Submission, Username, Fic, Prompt Number.
Art:
• Art should be a stand alone piece.
• Comics, traditional art and digital art are allowed.
• Photo manips and fanvids are not allowed.
• Please don’t sign your art or post it anywhere before the big reveal.
• When your art is complete, please email it to ngfestmods@gmail.com as a jpeg, png, or gif attachment. The subject of your email should read: Submission, Username, Art, Prompt Number.
Prompting:
• You can leave up to 15 prompts as long as they all feature a next gen pairing.
• Anything goes. Fluff, angst, smut, multiple pairings, moresomes, het, slash, femslash, gen, etc.
• You don't have to claim a prompt to submit one.
• Participants are allowed to use their own prompt.
Claiming:
• To claim a prompt, comment with the fully completed template on the Claiming Post. Comments will be screened, as this is an anonymous fest. Please do not share your prompt with others.
• You may claim your own prompt or use the claiming template to self-prompt if you don’t see any prompts you like but you still want to sign up for the fest.
• Each prompt can be claimed once for FIC and once for ART.
• Claiming is first come first serve.
• If you finish and submit your first fic early, you are more than welcome to claim a second!
• You must be over 18 to claim and create for this fest.
