A New Fic

I hope people are still reading this, and I'd really like some input on this fic. I've written a few here before and recently had the urge to write another. I haven't totally decided where I am going with this yet, so I only have the first chapter done. I hope you all will read and post your opinions! Thanks!!

The premise is interesting so far. He is obviously about to have a baby or a miscarriage. There are the obvious questions of how he got pregnant/why.

I was actually thankful to see this was short because I was going to respond with - you need a bit more in your summary if you want to catch our eyes.

Summary - Harry suddenly loses his baby during a quidditch match. Can his relationship with Draco survive the tests that they are about to endure?

For me, there are so many stories out there, seeing that I may or may not write more makes me want to skip it. The only thing that pulled me in is that this could possibly become a creature fic. I <3 creature fics!!

As with all writers, we obviously don't want to spend hours upon hours of writing something that no one will read. That being said, you need to examine your reasons for writing this piece. Is it something that you want to tell. Will you be happy if only one person reads it? Is it something that you are personally dealing with and need to get out and onto paper (obviously slightly different of course)?

Me personally, I would prefer to see much longer chapters. Something that I could sink my teeth into, so to speak. I would prefer knowing if it is a one-shot or about how many chapters to expect. Seeing that you don't know where the story is going to end up, makes me even more nervous to read it. You need to have a goal in sight. And most importantly - never ever hold comment on it or I won't write another chapter...turns me away immediately. (Which thankfully you did not, I just thought I would throw in my two cents there.) I have been a part of the fandom for seven years. I'm a reader (massive lurker, although I do try to leave constructive crit, which hopefully this is coming across as, because I promise that is all it is meant as coming from a reader's POV) and a writer. I have been a beta, but I have like no time for most of anything right now. So, I'm even more selective about what I read.

Hopefully I have helped you some. I don't know. Hopefully I don't just sound like a b#tch, because I promise I'm not trying to be. It's after midnight here, and I'm trying to be a happy person. *grins*

I will definitely have more of a summary once I've gotten my head around where it's going exactly. I have an idea, but trying to work out some details before I put it all into a summary. So it's not that I don't have a goal in mind, just working out the path to get to the goal.

Also, I wasn't really questioning if I'd write more of it. I already am and plan to continue. I was just seeking out some opinion on how the beginning sounded.

The chapters will end up being longer. This one was just the beginning of my idea. I wrote it and posted it to get it out there and am working on chapter two now.

Awesome! You have a great start. I really, really hope I didn't sound as bad as I think I may have. I saw the question and decided I would give you my honest answer.

If it had not been midnight and me half asleep, I would have just kept going and not even looked. I have gotten so used to seeing that at AFF, that if I see it here, I may very well cry. I began my fanfic journey in LJ. I have a higher set of standards for my LJ posters. If I got to AFF, I don't truly care about "quality" as much as I do here. I don't know if that makes sense. I'm exhausted and should be asleep. (I'm texting my non-boyfriend who lives in another state over whether or not we have a future atm, so that is the only reason I'm still halfway conscious.)

Please let me know if you continue this - or rather when you continue it. I may not jump back in immediately. I need to actually be working on my own WIP that needs to be completed - it is long over-due. But it isn't a Mpreg, so I won't talk about it here.

Again, I really hope I didn't come across too horrible. My intentions were totally well meaning. I promise. I just wanted to give you my input based upon what you had posted so far.
