So It's official.
Three Hundred Watchers!
Many thanks to the last four people on board. I remember nearly fainting when we hit 100. *iz ded*
So, as promised we have two challenges on the board.
Ides of March - Interpret how you will. Think deceit, tyranny, power struggle, assassination, soothsayers, (Cassandra did not get the kicking around

I HATE having to say no to people, and I hate having a closed community, it seems snobby and elitist, but I think that most people “get” what the comm.. is about, it’s the only way to ensure the quality stays high - even all the fics written don’t get posted, as I have power over the posting of them too. I am a horrible person and deserve to go to hell. (which will be full of BNFs laughing at me.)
I’m also a MOD on Blond Azkaban, which deals with Malfoy fics, and your Rudolphus.Lucius would be perfect on there, so please join that comm. If you haven’t already (read the joining guidelines, you have to email an age statement to Bethany) and post that there, it’s good and needs more people to read it.
I hope you try for the risk. With your knowledge of history, you could do either challenge well, I would imagine, just let your words go a little mad. *grins*
By the way, there are loads of ancient history slash sites, if you want the links let me know.
Love

You do not need to go to hell for being a closed community :) I have been enjoying reading the stuff here, but have not really had a desire to write for you all (not that I don't love the comm, mind you) until I saw this posted. I'm exploring several new avenues, I primarily write dark erotica/gothic stuff (and I'm a het writer), but the idea of doing something political really intrigues me, especially as I write Death Eater fics!!
I'll attempt to let my words go mad, as you say, and would be pleased to submit the fic to you when its done. No worries if you don't want to post it, I'm pretty laid back and hard to offend with that kind of stuff. I have lots of places to post things as is, but I do enjoy the community and would love to be a member, but I really wanted to write the challenge fic and didn't want to post it (not so much here as just anywhere) and annoy the mod of the community that came up with the challenge. Make sense? I hope so :)
Thank you for the Blond Azkaban recommendation. I will join and post my Lucius/Rodolphus, thanks so much for the idea! It was my first slash piece, and I was pleased with how it came out. I want to write Voldemort for the Ides challenge (and might just have to split him up from Hermione, ha) and I'm way intrigued by Rosier. Anyway, I'll stop babbling.
I'd love the links. I write original mythology-based dark erotica (you can see my piece "Crimson and Amber" on Mythic_Smut if you are so inclined) and my intent is to gather a collection and *crosses fingers* submit it for publication one day.
OMG sorry for babbling at you. I'll join BA and work on the fic, thanks again for the offer to look at it.

You know, that's what I've been struggling with: to submt a few pieces of my original stuff thus making the name, or keep it all for the collection--I waver between the two often. I want to see if I can get my stuff published or if writing will remain a hobby forever (I have two novels that need to be edited...but one day...*daydreams*) which would be fine, but as much as I like alumni relations sometimes it can be quite tiresome and the idea of writing for a living...so lovely. Anyway, I certainly don't mind the advice, I'm still struggling whether or not I should try and publish some or wait until they're all done. I have only ever published boring historical articles :) Not nearly as fun.
I do write het :) I have written one slash piece though and enjoyed it, so I'll probably try some more. I like to try new things and enjoyed my lovely dark Death Eater piece. My original stuff is usually either het/femmeslash though.
Yup, Hermione/Voldemort. Give Lunalelle a read-through sometime, she's the undisputed master of that pairing. I was seduced by the idea of it and now I'm addicted to writing them.
Nice to chat with you!

My poor little historical article was rejected by one of the places I submitted it to, and they said I had "nothing new to add to the field". *Sniffles* Someone else thought so though, and I felt vindicated. Now I just want someone to engage me in a print war, but I'm out of grad school and might cry if I have to read Diodorus again. Heh.
