http://www.maplestreetbookshop.com/childrens.htmlNOTE: Why Maple St and why in New Orleans? The big corporate stores always have corporate guidelines about what promotions they will allow, and all of the independent bookstores in the New Orleans and Baton Rouge who had any Potter Parties previously (say that 5 times fast) were contacted. Maple St was the store that responded!
The party is FREE and open to everyone! A press release regarding the party will be appearing in the Times-Picayune.
I'm hoping we can have LOTS of HP_LA people in attendance; ESPECIALLY if you can bring a young'n!!! We need lots of young’ns! The store will be providing refreshments and we (HP_LA) will be organizing all the events, which will be including:
• A Wrock Concert with Louisiana's own The Purebloods
(I claim them for the State. Moreover, I have a flag - so by the rules set forth by Eddie Izzard - they are Louisiana's).
• WINKY! (Wizard bingo - idea stolen shamelessly from Wrock the Boat!),
• A Potter crossword puzzle (I have no cool name for this yet),
• A word search (needs a name),
• & (possible additions if participation warrants) a dueling contest & costume contest.NOTE: Anyone who has ideas for the dueling contest (and extra wands?) OR anything else that would be easy and cheap to do in a small space - PLEASE COMMENT. I will beg... it is not pretty - but I would do it.
It would be very VERY helpful if we knew who was going to try to attend and roughly how many people would be coming. If we are several, we should probably pre-order with the store so we don’t wipe them out of stock! The list price for the book is under $16 - however, I don’t have the price at Maple St yet.
I know funds are tight - oh BOY do I know - however, we have 6 weeks to start saving our pennies. Additionally, if anyone wants to plot going to lunch after the party and scare some muggles have some well-mannered frivolity; I would most definitely not be opposed to it.
