Good treatment of a rather chilling missing moment.

Ooooh, I love this!

a poster of Harry Potter, emblazoned with the caption UNDESIRABLE NO 1 and adorned with a pink sticky note decorated with a kitten

This is such a great detail, and it's so her. The fluffy face of fascism.

'You have the following rights,'

Rights, my left foot! A suggestion of the way political principles get twisted in service of something terrible. I got chills.

And the last scene is so dreamlike. *snuggles Stan*

Thanks, mystery author!

I'm glad you liked it and I hope it fitted your request, which was a lovely one to get. I wish I could take credit for the sticky kitten note, but that's JKR. Sigh! But I loved writing the 'reading the rights' bit. As you say, rights indeed!

And I love Stan. Stan needed a happy ending.

LOLZ to the very last bit. Stan Shunpike = ♥ This piece fills that missing moment just perfectly. I have indeed been wondering about poor old Reg. Nice Umbridge, too - very in character!

Excellent work, Mystery Author!

Umbridge is a foul creation, isn't she? JKR's so deft with her minor characters. And I love Stan to bits. I wanted him to have a happy ending after having such a rotten book 6.

Phew - thanks for giving them a hopeful ending. I do worry about what happened to the Cattermoles. The Stan moment at the end is a lovely piece of comic relief in what is otherwise a tense and disturbing story. Thank you for exploring this bit of backstory!

Thank you! I'm not convinced the Cattermoles really got away in the book - they don't seem bright enough. But then people aren't at their best when their terrified, I suppose.
