Summary: It isn't the best solution in the world, but it is the only one she has.
Ginny broke from the shadows to meet her contact. It had to be this way; this was all she could think of to make things work with Harry. He was afraid of losing her during the war, and she feared for him even more after he told her the prophesy. She could see him being stolen from her into death’s cold, cruel embrace far too easily.
She shuddered in a mixture of fear and excitement as she approached the creature. A grim solution to a messy problem, but what else could she do? She refused to hide in the castle’s tower like some maiden from the old tales waiting for her knight to rescue her. If her love went to war she would follow him. To insure Harry would never need fear her death, or she his, she had to act as befitted a Gryffindor, decisively and foolishly striding into the arms of the waiting vampiress.
This wasn’t what she’d pictured when she had promised Harry forever, but she would survive the war so Harry could focus on Voldemort. Maybe, she mused as she passed out from blood loss and pain, Harry would let her turn him, too.
