Note: This is pretty silly, hopefully fluffy/campy. I was going for a bit of a parody of the whole 'haunted vacation' cliche, only this one stars optimistic! in love! Remus and grumpy! Severus.
“Is this vacation really necessary?” Severus asked rhetorically. Remus smiled.
“Yes, it is. We’re almost there. You’ll enjoy it. There’s a famous apothecary nearby; you’ll probably want to see it. The pamplets also describe how many parts of the town are-”
“- Said to be haunted, and the locals have been encountering ghosts on the roads since 1434. We read the same pamphlets, Remus.”
“I’m just reiterating.” Remus looked at his lover’s face. “Don’t sulk. I don’t want our very first vacation together to get off to a poor start.”
Severus didn’t answer. The two men walked on in silence for a while.
“Ah,” Remus said happily, after several minutes. “Here we are. The hotel is there, and that must be the village. Isn’t it lovely?”
Severus surveyed the landscape. It was dark and barren; the ground was entirely covered in gray rocks. A bat swooped by overhead. The wind howled. Several dead trees dotted the horizon.
“No,” Severus replied flatly. Remus’ smile didn’t waver.
“It’ll look more picturesque tomorrow,” he said, taking Severus’ hand. “I admit it’s a bit dismal now. You’re not nervous?”
“No!”
Haunted houses and ghost villages, Severus thought. Why had he let Remus plan their vacation?
