Summary: A reminiscing stroll down Diagon Alley with two witches and a ghost.
Notes: Thank you so much to B and W for looking this over and helping turn this into something readable. Any mistakes, were due to my constant inability to leave things be.
Minerva placed several gold coins on the counter before shrinking the rather sizable sack of mended clothes to something more manageable. “Thank you again, on behalf of Hogwarts...”
“Not to worry, Minerva. Happy to do my part for those orphaned in that ghastly war,” Madam Malkin interrupted with a mournful smile. “You two have a nice day.” She bowed towards Minerva and her companion, Madam Pimpernelle.
The witches exited the shop, heels making a strange chorus in the dark, deserted streets of the Alley.
“This fog reminds me of when Dolores Umbridge was at the school.” Minerva touched Madam Pimpernelle's arm in warning. “An unusually thick fog swirled through the halls. It snaked around students' legs, tripping some. You should have seen Filch sprawled out on the floor, screaming in fright. Dolores was certain it was the Weasley twins.”
“Knowing those two, I wouldn't put it past them,” added Madam Pimpernelle. “I remember several of the girls swore mutilated faces appeared and silently screamed mere centimeters from them.”
Minerva's melancholic smile mirrored the familiar ghostly shape strolling the street beside the witches. “Most wouldn't know it, but Severus had a wonderfully youthful side when he thought no one was watching.”
