Summary: Druella grieves one day a year.
Notes: Somewhat inspired by Corpse Bride.
Druella grieves one day a year.
One day isn’t enough, but every other day she forces her grief down, deep down, and conducts herself in the expected manner of a Pureblood widow. Raises her daughters. Makes society calls. Contributes to the right causes.
I would have followed you into death, Cygnus.
Not really, but the sentiment is there, beating below the surface of her life. Building to a crescendo until Samhain dawns at last. The day is always cold and foggy and rainy, as if even the weather senses her mood and acts accordingly. Samhain is her favorite day now, but it’s still bittersweet.
When the sun sets, Cygnus dies again.
But in-between sunrise and sunset, he is with her. Several glorious hours of simply being together. Brought back to life when Druella performs the marriage ritual in the mausoleum, carefully placing the gold wedding ring on his skeletal finger. The day is short but well worth the following night of overwhelming grief and the reserved pace of the rest of her lonely year.
The legends say the dead have no claim upon the living, but that’s untrue. Cygnus has every claim upon her; till death not do us part.
