Draco had grown up with the ability to see things that others couldn’t; things like energies, auras, and ghosts. Not just the sentient spirits, but the shades of people that lingered in the realm between life and death.
Draco had always known Harry to have a Dark energy around him, black sparks of magic haunting him, growing ever stronger. That energy disappeared after the Dark Lord’s death.
But when they started dating, Draco began to notice something new about Harry. There were ghosts around him always, there in the background, waiting.
Draco didn’t understand why until Harry told him that he’d been to the realm between life and death and returned in a way that nobody else had - alive.
When that barrier reopened, it wasn’t just Harry who came through. Now the haunted spirits that had escaped with him were drawn to him, feeding off his energy.
Draco knew for a fact that spirits who had been trapped had been so for a reason, and that made them dangerous. They longed to be alive again, no matter the cost.
There was the downside of Draco’s ability - though he could see the spirits, there was nothing he could do about them.
