Summary: It didn't matter to Hermione that it was Halloween. It didn't matter that she was missing one of the biggest parties of the year, either. What mattered to Hermione was being as close to her lover as she could possibly get.

The wind was biting and rustled the autumn leaves around Hermione's feet as she made her way through the graveyard. She came here several times a year, so she'd long got used to the dark and macabre atmosphere, putting any unexpected sounds down to the bad weather. She tried to keep her breathing even and her walking steady as she passed by each grave, growing ever closer to the one she undoubtedly wished she didn't have to visit.
The war brought about many unfortunate deaths, but for Hermione, the death of her secret lover was the most painful of them all. It hurt all the more that she could not share her grief with anyone; she could not tell her friends. They would not understand that she'd been in love with a Slytherin, with the enemy. She missed many events by wanting to be as close to her lover as she could possibly get, but she didn't mind. It felt wrong somehow to be having such fun when Pansy's life had been so cruelly taken from her.
It didn't help matters that Hermione blamed herself, either. So to Pansy's grave she came, and at Pansy's grave she would stay, as life simply passed her by.
