Aww thank you so much ^__^ I'm so glad they came out! Brushing those lines in straight with india ink was SCARY!
I'm kinda mixed order actually. I did the initial large area watercolor washes first. I palced clean water on the eares I wanted pain, and left the areas I wanted white dry, then but the yellow wash on by dabbing it in places and lightly directing it with my brush. If I felt an area was too bright, I either added a small amount of water and spread the yellow out a bit.
then I dropped in the darker colors and let them bloom as they would. Sometimes I tilted the paper a bit to get it to flow in certain directions (most noticable at the top)
I let all that dry, then added the india ink images that I didn't want to bleed, so the castle thing, MWPP, the tree on the left, and the moon.
Then I worked in some more watercolor washes, let those *almost* dry, so some areas of the paper were drier than others, so the india ink would be dry on dry in some places, and dry on wet in otehrs. I dabbed in some india ink in areas I wanted it to spread/have less contorl over (most of the black landscape affects, most of the shadows, and part of the willow).
Then I let those dry, and tightened the inks with dry on dry in areas where it had spread too much and lost some of it's structure (mostly the willow).
I let that dry and then chest added watercolorw ashes to ares that looked unfinished or too light until I was happy with the color balance.
The composition btw, wasn't an accident. I sketched it out first in my sketchbook so I knew about where I wanted the figures, tree, and castle. I felt it was too heavy on the right side though, so the other tree was addeed for balance, as was the outlined moon.
