New! And shiny!

Sep 26, 2006 17:08

I am two days old. Almost as new and shiny as one can get. Behold my glowiness!

1. How and when did you discover HP fanfiction and art?
I made this journal two days ago, but I've been lurking a little while. I didn't want to barge in without knowing what, say, an lj-cut was. I wanted to know at least some rudimentary html. A lovely slasher friend introduced me to fandom.

2. How long have you been creating HP fan art?
Um. Today. :)

3. How long have you been drawing in general?
I've been drawing since forever, and I hope to continue that.

4. What characters/situations do you like to draw the most?
I don't care about which characters. All people are interesting to draw, and I hate repeating myself by doing the same person over and over. It's more of the spark; so far, I find I want to draw when I feel something click in a story. Sometimes fascination lasts a few hours, sometimes weeks. It all depends. For situations, I guess I enjoy portraits, since I find faces the most enthralling, and full-body takes me far too long.

5. What characters/situations do you like to draw the least?
Like I said, I enjoy drawing a variety. I struggle most with backgrounds since I often put it last (which is so so wrong) and I'm tired when I get to it, so I just get lazy and omit it. That's one aspect I want to improve drastically in. I'm also terrible at drawing characters in motion.

6. What media do you like to work with best?
I adore ink. It's so fast, so spontaneous, and it doesn't smudge. However, for artwork I post on the computer, I prefer digital, since my scanner is beyond terrible. Charcoal, conte, and graphite are also wonderful. I am in love with the effects of watercolours, but I still can't do a smooth wash. Oils take forever to dry and are generally high maintenance, though the results are beautiful and rich. Acrylics are a middle ground. Pencil crayons are great, but since I always burnish, it takes forever.

7. Comments...
Hi! Hope I haven't been boring. If you have five seconds, please go and click my link. And if you like, friend me?

Thank you for your time.

And the art:

Artist: anemonesque
Title: Green
Characters: Harry Potter
Rating: G
Media used: Photoshop
Challenge: No
Warnings: None. This is as safe as it gets.
Notes/comments: Harry doesn't look like my Harry. And there are quite a few screw-ups, in terms of perspective and anatomy, but hopefully not extremely noticeable. Bleuk. But worth looking at, I think!
