Perhaps an unlikely pair of friends, but I found myself thinking it could happen.

One never knows when a kind word unlooked-for will matter a great deal, and it's quite like Hermione to look past the exterior.

Well done,

A most intriguing story! I find that I am very curious both about how this friendship will turn out, and about what Dumbledore's relationship with Mundungus was.

Lovely evocation of a sort of pre-friendship.

Hermione's analytical observations--of her parents' and colleagues' attitudes, of Mundungus, and of herself--are just what I would imagine.

There's a hint, I think, of narcissism in Hermione: She had Muggle friends, magical friends, Squib friends. Friends who were Death Eaters. Friends of every economic bracket and age and size. And perhaps, if she became his friend-maybe she could help him. The possibilities were endless. This too is very much in character.

Nicely done.

What a satisfyingly unresolved fic, with mixed and unsettled feelings on both sides! I love that you just let watch Hermione and Mundungus interact, showing various aspects of this unresolved not-quite friendship, resisting the temptation to draw any happy conclusions from it. A lot of relationships are like that, aren't they--fleeting, contingent, self-serving? Enjoyed! M.

Hermione was an open-minded witch, after all. She had Muggle friends, magical friends, Squib friends. Friends who were Death Eaters. Friends of every economic bracket and age and size. And perhaps, if she became his friend-maybe she could help him. The possibilities were endless. Very much in character, I think, as is Hermione's pleasure at being called a beacon and at finding that this time people do want to be guided.

The various meetings with Mundungus are very well done, too, and show us not just him, but also a growing Hermione.

Oh, sorry, comment from therealsnape, I was still logged in as mod.
